YANAIR airline is registered in Zhitomir, but due to the lack of an airport in the city, it operates flights from Vinnitsa and Kyiv Zhulyany, performing both domestic and international flights.
“From the implementation of the project, the city will receive additional funds to the budget, investments of up to 15 million dollars, about 200 jobs and an increase in its image among other regional centers of Ukraine. In addition, prices for air tickets will be significantly cheaper than in Kyiv, almost twice,” assures company representative Alexey Yanchuk, as quoted on the official website of the Zhytomyr City Council.
In turn, the mayor’s office wants YANAIR to show the seriousness of its intentions: within 2 years the airport should receive international status. For their part, the Zhytomyr authorities are ready to lease land for the airport.
Yanair LTD LLC was registered on June 15, 2012 in Zhitomir, and on July 26, 2013 the company received a certificate to operate. The company's fleet consists of two Saab 340 aircraft and an Airbus A320 aircraft. The founder of the company is an individual, Russian Alexey Yanchuk. Yanchuk himself referred to himself in the media only as a manager-consultant of the company.
