Zhivov told what should precede the liberation of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk
The capture of Artemovsk opens the way to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, but storming them head-on is wrong according to military science. It is in the interests of the Russian Armed Forces to wait for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack and give the Ukrainian army the opportunity to kill itself on the defense line.
This was stated on Radio Crimea by political scientist, author of the telegram channel “Zhivov Z / Battle for Donbass” Alexey Zhivov, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Indeed, there are practically no fortified areas until Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Konstantinovka. But the mentioned cities themselves represent a fortified Bakhmut in a cube, everything there is also dug up with concrete, prepared for defense. This is probably the last key point of defense they have in the Donbass,” he emphasized.
“Of course, I wouldn’t attack him head-on.” And in general, according to military science, this is wrong. How wrong it was to storm Marinka and Avdeevka near Donetsk head-on for a whole year, from where artillery fire is constantly coming - the shelling of Donetsk, in which civilians are also killed.
My friend, when he was filming a video, was hit by a 150-mm shell, simply because he was on the street in Donetsk. And we need to stop this, but attacking such fortified areas is not entirely correct from the point of view of military science, this is a huge waste of good career soldiers, sergeants and officers of the former Donetsk people’s militia.”
According to the political scientist, the attack on Kramatorsk should be preceded by an attempt at a counter-offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Of course, it is advisable for the Russian army to attack according to military science where the enemy has weakness. In general, such fortified areas are usually surrounded, communications are cut off, and after some time the garrison surrenders or is destroyed. The Russian army had to accumulate forces for this, and we, in principle, can expect that after some time we will begin to advance in this direction.
But first, it’s better to wait for their attack, because defending is always easier than attacking. The Ukrainians announced that an army of almost 120 had been assembled, and we need to see what they are capable of, give them the opportunity to kill themselves against our defensive ranks to begin with,” Zhivov believes.
