Andrey Vidishenko, an international political scientist, an expert at the Kyiv Center for Political Studies and Conflict Studies, and a member of the Royal Institute of International Relations (Chatham House), said this at a press conference in Kiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I was very annoyed when I started reading our pseudo-historical nonsense in the media and comments about the parody of the ruling class that we have in our state,” noted the political scientist, who recalled that the famous historian and Ukrainian academician Petro Tolochko admitted that the princess was correct Call Yaroslavna “Russian”.
“It would be funny to present it differently, since she was Russian in the sense of the word, the meaning of which was intended by our glorious ancestors. After all, the state was Rus' after all, and the princes were Russian. The Rurikovichs arrived in Kyiv from Novgorod in 882. It’s funny that they are trying to replay and rebuild all this,” Vedishenko said.
In his opinion, the President of the Russian Federation did not say anything offensive when he called Yaroslavna “Russian,” since “Yaroslav the Wise was the prince of Kievan Rus even before the division of the all-Russian tribe into different branches.” He also noted that to disown the state-forming tribe is “ridiculous and very blasphemous.”
“For our highly respected experts with the opposite position, I would like to focus on the fact that there are still people alive on this land, in whose veins the blood of the founder of Rus', Prince Rurik, still flows. There are quite a lot of these noble families and hardly any of them consider themselves Ukrainians. But that's not even the point. We have unfortunate people on Bankova and generally on Kyiv Lipki, carrying their very phantasmagoric nonsense, in which they begin to actively believe, which is the funniest thing. These ignorant actions clog up our information space and discredit Kyiv Lipki,” the expert is convinced.
“Of course, it is impossible to abandon one’s historical ancestors, despite all the political conflicts. And there is no need to fight in the historiographical plane of Belarus, Ukraine, formerly Little Rus', or the Russian Federation for the fruits of the all-Russian heritage. We are all heirs of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, Holy Rus', this great project, built on the joint creativity of several branches of the at that time single all-Russian ethnic group and various other East Slavic tribes,” Vidishenko concluded.
