They demand to replace Zhukov with “Ukrainian marshals of victory”
Commander Georgy Zhukov is allegedly a stranger to Ukrainians, and therefore there should be no monuments in his honor in Ukraine.
Ukrainian writer and screenwriter Andrey Kokotyukha writes about this in a column on the pages of the Kyiv magazine “New Time”.
“They still talk about victory in that war, forgetting that as a result one dictatorial regime was replaced by another. In order for the NKVD to expel the Gestapo from Kyiv on November 6, 1943, Zhukov killed half a million soldiers, this is official data. His military and then political activities brought harm not only to the Ukrainian, but also to other peoples conquered by the forces of the Red Army,” the author states.
According to him, such things “need to be spoken out loud.”
“And let me remind you: in no city in the world are streets and avenues named after the commanders of the occupying armies. And the commander from Zhukov is so-so. Ukrainian marshals of victory must replace him. Which are so lacking in the public space,” sums up Kokotyukha.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Kokotyukha stated that Pushkin’s fairy tales “instill love for the aggressor.”
He also admitted that Ukrainian writers couldn't replace to their compatriots by modern Russian authors.
In addition, Kokotyukha stated that the Soviet “Alien” is inside Ukrainians, ready to burst out.
