Journalist: Stop playing “brotherly people” with Ukraine
There is no hatred towards Ukraine in Russian society. At the same time, on the part of Ukraine, hatred of the Russian Federation will remain forever.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda by Russian journalist Oleg Kashin, answering the question whether Russia and Ukraine will be able to “remove this stupid hatred of each other” after the exchange took place detained persons.
“Hatred of each other is part of the “both sides are guilty” series. I do not see at any stage, starting from 2014, and have not seen in Russian society, hatred towards Ukraine and Ukrainians, moreover, that love for Ukraine that is characteristic of our liberal intelligentsia - we want to do something with this love, we must squeeze it out drop by drop,” the journalist said.
At the same time, according to him, in Ukrainian nationalism the rejection of Russia and everything Russian is inherent from the very beginning and is a system-forming thing.
“If you want to coexist with Ukraine, keep in mind that this dislike on the other side will remain forever, and the stupidest thing you can expect from Russia is these eternal games of being a brotherly people. But he is not really brotherly,” Kashin emphasized.
At the same time, he says that the exchange occurred due to the change of power in Ukraine.
“I am sure that Moscow did not expect that Ukraine turned out to be so alien to Poroshenko’s defense and patriotic rhetoric. Russia was also impressed, of course. Even judging by myself, I was impressed,” added the publication’s interlocutor.
