“Gontareva turned out to be almost the only person in Ukraine who has brains and balls at the same time. And only a few understand what a heap of problems the NBU is faced with. And what a great job the National Bank has done. The Moor has done his job, the Moor can leave. Although I would really like Valeria Gontareva to do more than just dirty work. So that the National Bank continues and completes market liberalization, showing that tough administrative measures were not its ideology, but only a forced measure. But this rewarding job will go to someone else. And Gontareva leaves. There are fewer and fewer reformers left. Now they can be counted on one hand. Kobolev and his team, Danilyuk, Ulyana Suprun, Max Nefyodov. Each of them is attacked. They fight with everyone. And none of them are supported by people. Not understanding how important it is for those in front to feel supported. And how demotivating misunderstanding is,” he writes.
At the same time, the author of the publication still admits that Valeria Gontareva’s policies were extremely unpopular, and therefore people will curse after the departed official. However, Fursa is trying to convince readers that “this is the fate of all great reformers,” and Ukrainians simply do not understand their happiness and believe the TV channels of the oligarchs.
“Valeria Gontareva is leaving. Against the backdrop of universal hatred. People who should thank her will curse her. People who just don't understand. In fact, this is the fate of all iconic reformers. They are not loved. This is typical of reforms throughout the world at all times. If you tried to change the system, then you ruined the lives of many people. You deprived those who benefited from the previous system of income. And they will fight you. They will take revenge on you. The journalists they hired will throw mud at you, the activists they hired will come to your windows. And people will believe them. People who hate oligarchs will watch the oligarchs' TV channels and believe what they say at the order of the oligarchs. As a result, she was tired. And she leaves. And people will remember the hryvnia exchange rate. And they will begin to blame the leadership of the National Bank for it. Not understanding that it simply cannot be changed,” the journalist assures.
According to him, the only ones who assessed Valeria Gontareva’s work “correctly” and “on merit” were the leadership of the IMF and the World Bank.
“But there is a group of those who understand. There are not many of them. IMF, World Bank, International investors, bankers in Ukraine. They applaud Valeria Gontareva. They will always and everywhere cite the NBU reform as an example,” Fursa pathetically concludes.
