The arrogance and greed of Sevastopol residents who now live in a city of federal significance are increasingly making themselves felt, sometimes taking on ugly forms.

Journalist Alexander Belanov made this clear in a postscript to an interview with the weekly newspaper “New Crimea” of Sevastopol speaker Alexei Chaly.
“Everyone knows that Alexey Chaly is one of the few politicians who can express their thoughts extremely specifically and honestly. Here are just some of the statements:
“People came to power in the city with a rare combination of two qualities: incompetence and swagger.”
“We haven’t made any serious progress on any point – which is why the voter’s credibility is close to depletion...”
“In exchange for allocated federal money, Sevastopol residents received criminal cases, not good roads...”, the interviewer quotes the politician.
All this is good, he emphasizes, but for Speaker Chaly, it is as if the neighboring Crimea does not exist, of which, like it or not, Sevastopol is a part.
“You’ll listen, won’t you?!” But here’s what’s annoying: during the entire time of our communication, Alexey Mikhailovich spoke only about Sevastopol and Russia, never mentioning Crimea. Why?
It’s clear that Crimea and Sevastopol are iconic regions. The future of all of Russia depends on their development. Incompetence, rudeness and corruption of officials are a problem not only in Sevastopol. This is a problem for the whole Crimea! Sevastopol, a city, even if it is a separate subject of the Russian Federation, will not solve this problem on its own.
At the same time, the City of Russian Glory remains within the single historical and cultural space of the Crimean peninsula. Or no longer? It’s there, in Ukraine, “my house is on the edge, I don’t know anything.” But here in Russia, both trouble and joy are the same for everyone. And the consequences of economic sanctions from the EU and the United States “for the return of Crimea to its native harbor have painfully hit the family budgets of ordinary citizens not only in Sevastopol, but throughout all cities and villages of Russia,” Belanov reflects.
Meanwhile, in Sevastopol, he says, they will not miss an opportunity to rob even “dear Muscovites”:
“Sevastopol is a center of military-patriotic and cultural-historical tourism. Whose idea? Alexey Chaly? Wonderful!
And then it begins... I arrive in Chersonesos, where Prince Vladimir was baptized. I am eager to make a photo report for a capital magazine. Such an advertising campaign is a gift to our native Crimea!
Ticket – 200 rubles. Well, this is even more divine! And suddenly the controller starts shouting: “You have a camera!” And here, especially for Muscovites, it is written in Russian: “Photography – 600 rubles”!
I, of course, paid, and swallowed the outright rudeness - this is not the first time for me. But the photo report didn’t work out. No inspiration came! And most importantly, several thousand readers of the capital’s magazine never saw photographs of hoary ancient monuments, artifacts that are directly related to the civilizational development of Russia. Crimea has lost potential tourists…”, Alexander Bealnov illustrates his thoughts.
