Journalist: Kyiv smells of Russian spirit
In Ukraine, goods made in Russia continue to be popular, despite the conflictual relations between the two countries.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, writes Komsomolskaya Pravda, whose journalist visited Kyiv.
“The Russian spirit also smells on store shelves. In almost every supermarket in Kyiv you can easily find “Vologda” butter, “Moscow” sausage, “Russian” cheese and “Siberian” dumplings. But these are essentially brands stolen by Ukrainians. All these products are produced in Ukraine, and not imported from Russia,” the report notes.
But there are also products produced in Russia on Ukrainian shelves.
“For example, buckwheat. Square does not have enough buckwheat of its own, but this is a national product, so they buy buckwheat in Russia. True, it’s impossible to openly. Ukraine itself has imposed an embargo on the import of 190 goods from Russia. Therefore, everything goes according to the smuggling scheme. The cereal is transported through Kazakhstan! There they change documents and a tag - they say, Kazakh buckwheat. And Kazakh suppliers,” writes the author.
In addition, Russian goods can be found in the cosmetics and household chemicals departments.
“So, I found Russian cleaning products, toothpaste, deodorants and shampoos. Moreover, even the labels on them were in Russian. As the seller told me, many Ukrainians prefer to buy Russian brands,” says the journalist.
