Russia Today journalist faces 10 years in American prison
The Russian Foreign Ministry expresses concern about the detention of Russia Tooday correspondent Alexander Rubinstein in Washington on the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration. This was stated today at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“The correspondent fulfilled his professional duties. It is very important that he had with him a press representative’s identification, and, nevertheless, Alexander Rubinstein was detained by the police for almost a day. Five more journalists from other media found themselves in a similar situation,” Zakharova said.
According to her information, a preliminary hearing in court is scheduled for February 16. Since Rubinshtein has been charged with a serious crime - participation in mass riots, he faces imprisonment for up to 10 years.
“We proceed from this and expect that this incident will be thoroughly investigated, charges against Alexander Rubinstein and other journalists will be dropped and, of course, some appropriate conclusions will be drawn in Washington that this is an absolutely unacceptable and egregious situation,” - Zakharova said.
