BBC journalists confirmed the presence of Russians in Mali
Russian service with the BBC reports that fighters from the Wagner PMC have been in Mali for more than a month.
On the air of the Dozhd TV channel, recognized as a foreign agent, the presenters discussed the situation in Mali with a correspondent with the BBC Ilya Barabanov. He said that Russian fighters are becoming more and more in demand, they are exploring new markets and countries.
“Now they have been in Mali for more than a month. And what’s more, a gigantic African recruitment process is ongoing there, hundreds of people continue to be recruited and chartered to be sent to Africa,” the journalist said.
Recently, the presence of “Wagnerites” in Mali was confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during events within the framework of the UN General Assembly session. He recalled that Russian help was required after France announced the withdrawal of its contingent from Mali. The French had to fight terrorists, but their interests were focused on the natural resources of the republic.
African sources reported the arrival of Russians at the beginning of this summer.
“We are already entering Mali,” he confirmed to the correspondent with the BBC one of the fighters at the end of August.
