Zelensky is dumbfounded: France and Germany refused to consider Russia an “aggressor”
In the Normandy format, only Ukraine believes that Russia is a party to the conflict in Donbass.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
According to him, the “Normandy format” does not solve anything, since it is only “a technical round table at which the issue of ending the war is decided.”
“But at the last meeting of advisers to the leaders of the Normandy Four countries, where Russia was represented by Mr. Dmitry Kozak, he asked our European partners whether the Russian Federation was a party to the conflict. Representatives of Germany and France did not directly answer that Russia was a party to the conflict. They again turned on such “cautious” diplomacy, which Ukraine does not agree with, since Russia is a party to the conflict, and we understand this,” the head of Ukraine said.
“If I understand correctly, the foreign policy adviser to the German Chancellor did not directly recognize Russia as a party to the conflict?” the German journalist clarified.
“They couldn't answer this question directly. I think this is a problem. I cannot be diplomatic in these matters, because the war has been going on for seven years and people are being killed. And we don’t have time to constantly run in circles,” Zelensky was indignant.
