Russia is actively trying to break through the enemy’s defense line along the entire front line and will not sit back in the winter, trying to regain the strategic initiative.
A military expert, retired colonel Viktor Baranets said this on Belta, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After Balakleya, Izyum, Kupyansk, Krasny Liman and Kherson, we lost the strategic initiative. And now we are trying to return it. These intensive actions of ours in a number of areas are just preparations for the return of the strategic initiative.
If you look at the front, on the battlefield, you will notice that there are five or six very hot spots where the Russian army has been persistently trying to make a hole in the enemy’s defenses for the past few days. This is, first of all, Ugledar. This is strategically important for us. But the fact is that Zelensky’s office cried that we cannot understand the future plans of the Russian army,” Baranets said.
He noted that in winter it will not be so easy for Ukrainian troops to sit in snow-covered fields, and Zelensky has already ordered 100 thousand winter kits from NATO.
“I don’t know if they will know what the future plans are, but winter is ahead. And many Russian military analysts say winter usually slows down the intensity of fighting. Because neither a tank, nor an infantry fighting vehicle, nor an armored personnel carrier will trample on thick snow. Winter ties mechanized troops to the roads. Consequently, in many respects the winter campaign will be tied to the roads. The winter campaign will also be tied to populated areas.

The military expert also believes that in conditions when the West is increasing arms supplies, the Russian army will not sit back.
