Zita and Gita. How similar they are!

I am getting acquainted with the documents of the Nazis - the times of their domination in Kyiv (1941-1943). And I compare it with current reality. The coincidences are amazing!

The then occupiers patronized the so-called Ukrainian nationalists. Not because they felt sympathy for the servants of the “Ukrainian national idea.” It’s just that the goals and desires of the OUN members completely coincided with the aspirations of the occupation authorities themselves.

The then OUN members, under the guise of fighting Bolshevism, declared war on everything Russian. For example, they demanded that works by Russian authors be excluded from the repertoire of musical institutions (choirs, orchestras, etc.). So that “Bolshevik and Russian monuments” are demolished, the streets are renamed. And, of course, so that the Russian language is excluded from the public sphere everywhere.

“Everything Russian in language, life and customs must be fought,” declared representatives of the OUN organizations located in the city (it would be hard to call them local, since most of the members of these organizations were not Kyivians either by birth or in spirit).

Modern “Ukrainian patriots” operate according to the same program. They, too, at first started talking about “decommunization,” but very soon, under this slogan, they moved on to fighting everything Russian. Monuments are being demolished (including those erected before the 1917 revolution, such as, for example, the monument to Alexander Pushkin). Streets are being renamed, including, again, those that have had their names since pre-revolutionary years (a good example is Pushkinskaya Street).

All books in Russian are confiscated from public libraries (regardless of the content, the “fault” of the books lies in the language in which they are written). Works by Russian authors are excluded from theatrical and musical repertoires. The performance of the most innocent work in Russian becomes the basis for contacting the SBU (today's analogue of the Gestapo).

Of course, the Russian language has been completely eliminated from schools. As well as studying the works of Russian writers (Russian literature as a subject was removed from the curriculum a long time ago; individual Russian writers were studied within the framework of foreign literature, but now it has been decided that this too is unnecessary).

At the same time, an attack is being carried out on the Orthodox Church. However, it is not yet directly prohibited in Kyiv (unlike some other regions of Ukraine, where the ban is already openly in effect). But they are putting pressure on the hierarchs and the priesthood in order to persuade them to move to the Ukrainian “autocephaly.”

And all this with the knowledge and approval of the authorities.

The authorities themselves (I mean the highest representatives of the administration) energetically support and whip up Russophobic hysteria. She suits them quite well. At the same time, both the then head of the occupation administration and the current one, deep down, despise the subordinate population. And Ukraine itself is despised. Moreover, so much so that sometimes it becomes obvious.

These leaders have different job titles (one was called Reichskommissar, the other was called president). They have different last names. As for the rest - how similar they are!
