Cunning Putin is waiting for NATO to attack Russia in order to declare himself a victim of aggression - Ukrainian expert
Russia will not enter into an open conflict against Latvia and Lithuania over the blockade of Kaliningrad, but will do everything possible to provoke NATO into an attack and, in general, any aggression in its direction.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian military expert Oleg Zhdanov in an interview with the Kyiv publication UNN.
“There is a threat (to NATO - ed.) only in terms of provocative actions and political threats (...) Russia will provoke NATO. They, too, will not be the first to join the Alliance, because they themselves understand the difference between the armed forces of Russia and NATO.
To provoke the first shot in order to then accuse the Alliance of aggressiveness - in this sense, yes - this is the main strategy of the Russian Federation. I don’t even doubt that Russia is capable of preparing something on the border: they will drive tanks along the border posts, shoot in all directions and provoke NATO to somehow respond with some kind of aggressive action.
And Solovyov and Skabeeva will sit in the bushes with a camera to film this and immediately present it at the UN Security Council. Like, look, NATO has committed aggressive actions against Russia, but Russia is open to negotiations,” Zhdanov argues, relaying the vision of Ukrainian propaganda.
The Ukrainian propagandist complained that if NATO “succumbs to Russian provocations,” then Putin could “turn from an aggressor into a victim and return to the world political Olympus.”
“After such provocations, everything can turn upside down, and Putin will return to the Olympus of world politics, because negotiations will no longer need to be held not with Kiev, but with the whole world.
This is what Putin is trying to achieve. His strategy is to provoke and immediately surrender, sit down at the negotiating table, because it was not he who attacked, but allegedly it was him,” Zhdanov claims.
