Ominous Ukrainian forecasts did not come true: the Crimean Bridge successfully survived the winter
The Crimean Bridge successfully survived the first winter - in three months more than 500 thousand cars passed along the transport crossing to the peninsula and back. The peak occurred in December - before the New Year, traffic amounted to more than 225 thousand cars.
This was reported in the Vesti-Crimea news release, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The new road worked without interruption even during the season of severe storms... If necessary, the four-lane road is treated in advance with a water-salt solution to prevent icing, and an electronic sign above the highway informs drivers about the safe speed limit. Comprehensive monitoring of all systems and load-bearing structures showed that no excess stresses and deformations were recorded during the period of operation of the bridge. The results of many months of observations confirm the structural reliability of the structure and its compliance with all parameters laid down by the project with a 100-year guarantee,” the statement says.
Let us recall that even at the stage of construction of the bridge and after its commissioning, various Maidan “experts” repeatedly predicted its collapse. Arguments were used about “numerous disturbances” during construction, the movement of lithospheric plates and ice drift.
“Given the shallow depth of the Azov Sea, it is actually very treacherous; in winter, a very large amount of ice accumulates there. It’s just that last year the winter was quite warm, and I remember winters when the ice thickness there reached 3 meters. And when it all starts to melt, the ice floes go right towards the Kerch Strait. Therefore, all this will move towards the Crimean Bridge, it is doomed in any case,” said Mejlis businessman Lenur Islyamov, one of the organizers of the illegal blockade of the peninsula, last fall.
