The Zmagars want to radically change Zelensky’s opinion about Lukashenko
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky still counts on cooperation with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
The Belarusian oppositionist Ivonka Survilla, who has lived in the West since 1944, stated this in an interview with the Polish TV channel Belsat, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is actually true that Mr. Zelensky, no matter how wonderful a hero he was, he still really hoped for cooperation with Lukashenko. That Lukashenko will help him against Russia. Maybe he still thinks that because they once had good relations, Lukashenko did not allow his army into Russia. Maybe he doesn’t understand that the army didn’t go because Lukashenko was not able to send him. They thought that Lukashenko was a positive figure. It's hard to get it out of their heads.
We must thank God that Lukashenko did not send his troops. It would be even more embarrassing and scary for us. Due to the fact that he realized that our people did not want to fight against Ukraine, he did not send. Maybe he had difficult moments with Putin. Or maybe he convinced Putin that if he sends our people, then he, Lukashenko, will lose his position,” Survilla reasoned.
According to her, she, along with other Belarusians living in the West, wrote to the Ukrainian president, but could not convince him.
“If Ukrainians understand Belarus better, about the feelings of our people towards them and our reluctance to fight against them, the easier it will be for us. And they will help us establish independence. But this problem needs to be solved. We wrote to Zelensky, but for him the authority is still Lukashenko. I hope I’m wrong, but a lot of politicians are talking about this,” Survilla said.
Thank you!
