Zmagars attacked Tikhanovskaya for her willingness to “give guarantees” to Lukashenko
Former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who fled to Lithuania, has no right to give any guarantees to the current President Alexander Lukashenko.
Belarusian opposition political scientist Pavel Usov said this today on Euroradio, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You can give guarantees when you have the strength to take power without relying on any negotiations. There are no conditions for negotiations. We do not see the desire of the authorities to conduct them with the Coordination Council, the entire composition of which is in prison, or with Tikhanovskaya. It turns out that the words about guarantees have no political meaning. This statement is empty,” Usov is indignant.
He believes that the opposition should put forward an ultimatum to Lukashenko: either he leaves the country, or a nationwide strike or other radical steps.
“In my opinion, a peaceful departure will no longer be possible. Blood has already been shed, and we will have to answer for this blood. Lukashenko can only be guaranteed a fair trial. No one today can give him any other guarantees and has no moral right!” Usov insists.
Let us remind you that Tikhanovskaya, in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Left Bank, promised to give Lukashenko guarantees of personal security “and even more.”
