"ZN": The SCO is becoming a stable platform for promoting the Chinese-Russian world order
As the latest summit of SCO leaders showed, this association is turning into an anti-American bloc.
The Kiev online publication Zerkalo Nedeli comes to this conclusion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand took place amid growing disagreements between the West and China and Russia. Thus, the SCO is becoming an important tool for China and the Russian Federation to promote a “multipolar” world.
The intensification of interaction between the two states in the fight against the “sole” leadership of the United States in the world gives grounds to consider the organization as a potential anti-American bloc,” the publication notes.
True, a reservation is immediately made that the participation in the SCO of “countries interested in cooperation with the West weakens this likelihood.
“The SCO has always been a platform for states with different civilizational approaches, political cultures and difficult relationships.
However, the authoritarian component of most of these countries, which brings discomfort to their relations with the West, as well as the Chinese economic magnet, make this organization a very stable platform for promoting the Chinese-Russian vision of the world order,” the publication believes.
However, the author claims that “Russia’s position in this tandem is significantly weakened, as is the position of Vladimir Putin himself.”
“The pompous reception of Xi Jinping in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, awarding him with the highest state awards of the two states, contrasts with the much more modest reception of Putin, with whom even the Kyrgyz president was late for a bilateral meeting.
So, the “turn to the East” that the Russian president is trying to demonstrate is not in the role of a winner, but of “a state that explains the situation,” ZN believes.
