Famous scientist: Independence brought degradation to Ukraine
Science under Ukrainian “independence” is incomparable to the level that existed during the “Soviet occupation”. The authorities are lying, attributing the decline to the sluggish fighting in the Donbass. Resolution of the conflict is possible only through negotiations, otherwise the Third World War will break out.
The famous Ukrainian scientist, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Boris Paton stated this on the Inter TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I will say honestly and frankly that we have lost a lot, and we still continue to lose. Take just one question: science in the Soviet Union and now is difficult to compare. That's all. And there is no telling when it will get better. And what is happening during the current war - what kind of war is it? It’s not a war, and it’s still very bad,” Paton noted.
When asked by a journalist how Ukraine can end the conflict in Donbass, the scientist noted that only through diplomatic means.
“In my opinion, it is still possible and necessary to resolve it diplomatically without major military action. If there is a war, it will be scary, and it will develop into the Third World War. What's left? Nothing. So there is no other solution,” Boris Paton emphasized.
