Ukraine and representatives of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych have not reached an agreement on the amount of compensation from official Kyiv, which is why a case on this matter is currently being considered in Luxembourg.

This was announced by the representative of the EU court located in Luxembourg, Balazs Legocki.
“I can confirm that on March 15, three lawsuits were filed by ex-President Yanukovych and his two sons or heirs, who ask the Court to determine the amount that Ukraine must pay,” he said.
Legocki also confirmed that the EU Court of Justice had previously ruled that Ukraine must compensate the legal expenses of the Yanukovych family associated with Kyiv’s attempt to enter the Yanukovych v. Council of the EU sanctions process as a third party. Ukraine subsequently withdrew its application to join the process, but during this period Yanukovych and his sons incurred certain legal expenses, which Kyiv, according to the interim court decision, must compensate.
“However, the court decision only stated in principle who should pay whom, and the exact amounts were not determined. The litigant and the applicants were expected to agree on the amount to be paid by the former to the latter.
If it is not possible to agree on an amount, the issue may be submitted to the EU Court of Justice. Obviously, the parties did not reach an agreement,” said a representative of the EU Court of Justice.
He refused to confirm or comment on information recently released by former head of the Ministry of Justice Elena Lukash about possible compensation in the amount of 57 pounds sterling for each applicant from the Yanukovych family.
Until the court makes a decision on the amount of compensation from Ukraine, more detailed information on this issue will not be published, he emphasized.
Let us remind you that earlier the Pechersky District Court seized 11 bank accounts in 3 banks that were opened by companies owned by Alexander Yanukovych. However, Interpol refused to put Yanukovych on the wanted list at the request of Kyiv.
