Zrada: the Kyiv-Moscow train has become the most profitable in Ukraine
In 2017, the most profitable Ukrainian train was No. 5/6 Kyiv - Moscow, and the most unprofitable was No. 70/69 Mariupol - Lviv.

The five most profitable trains of 2017:
No. 5/6 Kyiv - Moscow - 11 cars, 77% occupancy, 154 million in profit
No. 23/24 Odessa - Moscow - 10 cars, 89% occupancy, 98 million profit
No. 105/106 Kyiv - Odessa - 17 cars, 95% occupancy, 47 million profit
No. 91/92 Kyiv - Lviv - 15 cars, 87% occupancy, 29,7 million profit
Some other trains to Russia were also profitable, including Khmelnitsky - Moscow, Lviv - Moscow, Kovel - Moscow, Kharkov - Moscow, as well as some trains launched last year: No. 7/8 Kiev - Ivano-Frankivsk, No. 11 /12 Lviv - Odessa.
However, in general, long-distance passenger transportation was deeply unprofitable. The total loss for 2017 amounted to 3,5 billion hryvnia.
The five most unprofitable trains according to Ukrzaliznytsia:
No. 70/69 Mariupol - Lviv - 16 cars, 93% occupancy, loss - 159,9 million UAH
No. 686/685 Izmail - Odessa - 9 cars, 65% occupancy, loss - 97,4 million UAH
No. 357/358 Kyiv - Rakhiv - 16 cars, 93% of the train’s occupancy, loss - 90,4 million UAH
No. 608/607 Chernivtsi - Lviv - 10 cars, 83% occupancy, loss - 27,3 million UAH
Two trains from this list - Chernivtsi - Lviv and Izmail - Odessa - were canceled, despite the dissatisfaction of the local population. In total, UZ canceled seven unprofitable trains last year.
