The City Council did not make a final decision on the possibility of construction due to concerns expressed by neighboring land users - the St. Clement Monastery and the Tauride Chersonese National Nature Reserve.
According to Zubkov, the first stage of the project provides for the creation of a natural park with 50 Amur tigers on an area of 14 hectares, on which there is a mined-out quarry with walls 40 meters high and a lake in the crater of the quarry.
The second part of the project will be a future park with bears, a slightly smaller area, and the third will be a safari for giraffes. We are talking about an extended section 1,5 km long.
The investor intends to allocate 150-200 million rubles within two years, and the “park capacity” is designed for simultaneous visits by several thousand visitors.
“The park can become an interesting tourist attraction in Sevastopol and Crimea at the European level; people are ready to travel hundreds of kilometers to see something amazing,” Zubkov believes.
The position of the St. Clement Monastery was expressed by the head of the public organization Vadim Prokopenko.
According to him, the area of proposed development includes objects of spiritual, archaeological and historical heritage: on the territory there are cave temples of Byzantine monks of the 8th century. “Therefore, it is worth taking into account the opinion of the Orthodox community,” the social activist noted.
As Arthur Garipov, a representative of the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise Geodetic Center, said, the territory contains the East Inkerman limestone deposit, for the development of which the company has a license for a period of 20 years.
A representative of the Tauride Chersonese National Nature Reserve recalled that on the border of the site there is the Kalamita fortress, which Russia will probably recognize as a monument with federal status. “It is worth paying attention that the objects will have buffer and security zones, and all utility networks must take into account and not violate the historical monument,” she said.
It is noteworthy that the investor stated that “the idea of creating a park belongs to Vladimir Yatsuba, who has long invited and wanted such a park to appear in Sevastopol.” In addition, he noted that President Vladimir Putin loves Sevastopol very much and is the curator of the international program for the conservation and rescue of Amur tigers.
As a result, the city council recommended that Zubkov enter into negotiations with all parties, collect all the necessary expertise and approvals, and postponed consideration of the project to the next meeting.
