“Call Lubyanka!” – Russia responded to Belarusian provocations by strengthening control at the border
A new procedure has been introduced at the border between Russia and Belarus.
Belarusian political scientist Yuri Voskresensky, who was returning from Smolensk today, wrote about this on his Facebook, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Russian side has just actually suspended all traffic on the M1 highway towards the entrance to the Republic of Belarus (Krasnaya Gorka crossing). Additional forces of the FSB border service have been deployed. Huge queues to leave the Russian Federation. Belarusians are not allowed to return to their homeland. Requires registration. Prepared in office number 4.
They enter the data into the computer and for some reason record the mobile phone number (know-how from the FSB). Then they let you through. People are standing in line, arguing, the situation is heating up. The answer to all questions is: call Lubyanka... If previously Belarusians spent 10 seconds on the crossing itself (showed their passport and moved on), today it took 2 hours. What and to whom have we been guilty?” Voskresensky wrote.
“What does Lubyanka have to do with it? Let them call the KGB of Belarus. Or to the Lukashenko administration,” Russian journalist Alexander Kots responded to this message.
Yesterday the press service of the State Border Committee of Belarus announced the strengthening of the regime on the borders with Russia and Belarus. Border guards promised to “strengthen operational cover” and conduct vehicle inspections more thoroughly.
However, journalists from the TUT.BY agency who visited the border did not see any innovations there. Apparently the Belarusian border guards did not really believe the authorities’ statements about the “militants” being transferred from Russia.
However, today the Belarusian TV channel ONT reported that the state airline Belavia has extended the suspension of flights to Russia until August 14. Flights to Krasnodar and Sochi are suspended until August 15.
