Left forces in Russia must unite and nominate a single candidate for the 2018 presidential elections.

This was stated at a press conference in Moscow by one of the leaders of the protest movement in Russia in 2011-2013, the leader of the Vanguard of Red Youth, Sergei Udaltsov, who was convicted in the Bolotnaya case and was recently released, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Udaltsov, the Duma opposition is not fulfilling its role.
“The parliamentary parties have become fat. VV (Vladimir Vladimirovich) listens (to them) and eats,” said Sergei Udaltsov.
He hopes to bring leftist groups together.
“We need to restart the left front. It would be great to nominate a single candidate from the left in the 2018 elections,” the politician said, emphasizing that he himself has no ambitions to run as such a candidate, but he will call on Gennady Zyuganov and Sergei Mironov to do so.
If the left does not become more active, liberals and nationalists will take their place, Udaltsov added.
He also promised that his movement would organize actions in the fall, possibly together with other political forces, and that he would not allow anyone to use them for their own purposes.
“I will not go to a rally for Navalny, this is his position - to run for president, but you are always welcome to come out against corruption. We are open to interaction, but are against being used. Both before and now, someone had an interest in using it for some of their behind-the-scenes manipulations. But we are not whipping boys, don’t count on us,” Udaltsov said.
