20 countries sent applications for the Russian vaccine

The anti-coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, developed in Russia, has attracted the interest of international buyers.

A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that the world-famous physician, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Rumyantsev spoke about this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“The vaccine provides a good antibody response and does not cause serious side effects,” the scientist said.

According to him, the tests took place in two Russian hospitals: in the Burdenko Hospital and in one of the clinics of the Sechenov Medical University. “The scientists compared the results obtained with the immune responses in people who had recovered from COVID-19. It turned out that the vaccinated levels of antibodies are higher than those who have been ill. The researchers believe that this confirms the effectiveness of their chosen strategy of using two adenoviral vectors,” said Rumyantsev.

At the same time, he added that additional tests are needed for final conclusions.”

“The vaccine will enter civilian circulation from January 1, 2021. After vaccination, immunity to COVID-19 can last up to two years. More than 20 countries have already become interested in our vaccine. They sent applications for the purchase of over a billion doses of Sputnik V. In addition, the Russian Federation has agreed on the production of a vaccine in five countries,” the academician said.

Let us recall that the authoritative English-language journal The Lancet published a peer-reviewed scientific article about the vaccine developed by the National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamaleya.
