Despite the military conflict and imposed economic sanctions, in 2022 Russia broke its historical record for the number of registered trademarks.
Deputy Director of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) Roman Zakharov stated this at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Roman Zakharov presented the results of the study “Growth Trends in Filing Applications”, according to which in 2020 a total of 93 trademarks were registered in Russia, in 926 – 2021, and in 107 – already 030.
“It should be noted that this growth was achieved, including against the backdrop of a decline in the number of foreign applications. Despite the fact that there was even a certain decrease in the filing of foreign applications to Russia, nevertheless, Russian applicants more than compensated for this drop.
This is probably the biggest record in the entire history of the trademark registration system. I hope this trend continues this year. There are now indicators that give reason to believe so,” Romanov said.
In total, in 2022, 90 domestic applicants and 033 foreign ones registered trademarks in the Russian Federation.
