Almost half of Ukrainians sell property and go into debt to cover treatment costs – study
Over the past year, 43% of hospitalized Ukrainians borrowed money and sold property to cover the cost of treatment.

This is stated in the study “Health Index. Ukraine - 2016".
At the same time, the average amount of funds that had to be borrowed was 4,865 thousand hryvnia.
Among respondents who were hospitalized over the past year, 25% unofficially paid directly to the doctor or other medical personnel (an average of 1,86 thousand hryvnia), 37% paid to the charitable foundation of a medical institution (an average of 181 hryvnia), 27% paid to the cash desk of the medical institution according to the official prices of the institution (on average - 1,951 thousand hryvnia), 11% indicated that there were no out-of-pocket expenses.
