Ovsyannikov’s rating in Sevastopol sank after winter
The support rating of the acting governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov decreased slightly following the results of the winter period. Doctor of Political Sciences, head of the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Social Sciences at Sevastopol State University Alexander Irkhin told reporters about this.

“We conducted sociological research. When he arrived, there was a high support rating, but winter lowered it somewhat; the city was not ready for it. Among the local elites, euphoria turned into restrained optimism, and then into pessimism,” Irkhin said during a conference broadcast on the local ForPost website.
He believes that Ovsyannikov managed to “freeze” the conflict that existed under the former governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo.
“Until recently, there was no severe information confrontation. But now that the open phase of the election campaign has begun, all the frozen conflicts are gradually beginning to emerge from the shadows. This is natural: there is a struggle for different types of resources. Ovsyannikov will no longer be an arbitrator, but a participant in this competition. The outcome of the elections will allow him to either become an arbitrator again or lose,” Irkhin said.
