Poroshenko stepped on Yanukovych's rake
A failed attempt by the Ukrainian authorities to detain Mikheil Saakashvili could lead to even larger protests.

This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets by the deputy director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, Kirill Molchanov, answering the question whether American curators will defend Saakashvili in the confrontation with Poroshenko.
“Not only Saakashvili, but also Poroshenko has curators, so it’s hardly possible to say that someone betrayed someone. Another thing is that the accusations brought against Saakashvili sound very doubtful. This looks like a double mistake: on the one hand, the president was afraid of the five-thousand-strong rally of an oppositionist who was absolutely harmless to him, and on the other, the security forces were unable to detain him. As a result, we are seeing the glorification of Saakashvili, thanks to which he will be able to bring many more people onto the streets next weekend. Poroshenko continues to step on Yanukovych’s rake,” the expert believes.
At the same time, he believes that Saakashvili will not be arrested in the foreseeable future.
“He will settle in a tent camp near the Verkhovna Rada, and they will try to forget about Lutsenko’s statements, as well as his other scandalous speeches. This is all the more relevant considering that Washington supported Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine in its confrontation with the Prosecutor General. Today, Lutsenko’s resignation is unlikely, since Poroshenko does not have a closer ally, but if the authorities continue to make mistakes, this could happen soon,” Molchanov said.
