Zelensky: It was necessary to negotiate more cunningly with NATO on “protection from the aggressor”
The Ukrainian authorities needed to be more cunning and, without advertising, negotiate with NATO “on protection from the aggressor”, without advertising such negotiations. Comedian Vladimir Zelensky, whose possible participation in the presidential elections in Ukraine is being discussed by the media, said this in an interview with journalist Dmitry Gordon.

I have a question about NATO. Do we know what NATO is? Will the troops come in and we will be protected from the aggressor? Yes, go and negotiate quietly. Who needs your posters, who needs to enshrine them in the Constitution? I don’t understand – are you diplomats or who the hell knows? I understand, I will come to an agreement with NATO, if possible, although there are such conditions there - we have a war on our territory, and this is already one of the conditions when we cannot join the Alliance.
I just want to explain - we are in any union on the condition of not losing the independence of our country - great. Okay, who is waiting for us and where, let them tell us? The EU is knocking on our door: “Guys, please, we want you, why are you refusing?” Not really!" – Zelensky said.
