The idea of autonomy for Donbass split Ukrainians
28% of Ukrainians are firmly ready to support the granting of autonomy to the uncontrolled territories of Donbass within Ukraine for a peaceful resolution of the conflict, and 24% firmly say “no” to such an idea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the results of a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
It is noted that to the question: “If in order to stop hostilities and peacefully resolve the conflict in Donbass it was necessary to grant autonomy within Ukraine to the uncontrolled territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, would you support such a proposal?”, then 28% of respondents answered that they would definitely support 23% would rather support such a proposal.
24% of respondents would not support such a position and another 25% could not or refused to answer the question.
According to the survey, residents of the South, East and Donbass would most support autonomy for ORDLO - 66,7%, 71,9% and 66,7%, respectively. In the West and in the Center, half as many people spoke for this position - 35,4% and 42,4% of the respondents.
The survey was reportedly conducted from February 28 to March 11. In the Lugansk and Donetsk regions, the survey was conducted only in territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
