“Gazprom played a great game with Moldova in favor of Pridnestrovie” - Bashirov
The Moldovan gas distribution company Energocom entered into an agreement with the Polish state-owned company PGNiG for a trial supply of 1 million cubic meters of gas to Moldova. The contract price has not been disclosed.
Political scientist Marat Bashirov believes that such an agreement is beneficial to Russia, because “Polish” gas will come to the country through Ukrainian transit, which means that the opportunity to supply gas to Transnistria will remain. If Moldova purchased “Romanian”, it would have the opportunity to cut off the unrecognized republic from energy.
“Gazprom played the game with Moldova perfectly. The price of gas from Poland will be higher than from Russia, simply because the gas will still be ours. At the same time, Transnistria will receive guaranteed gas and electricity, albeit through an advance payment. As for Moldova’s debt to Gazprom (more than $700 million), it will not go away and will only grow - a good canopy over the new government in Chisinau,” Bashirov wrote in his telegram channel.
