The “honeymoon” for Ukrainians in Poland is ending – ZUNR
Among Polish citizens, the number of those who do not support accepting refugees from Ukraine has increased fivefold, and almost two-thirds of Poles consider the assistance provided to Ukrainians sufficient.
The Polish-Ukrainian writes about this ZUNR portal.
In recent months, the number of conflicts between Polish residents and migrants from Ukraine has sharply increased, and not only at the everyday level, the publication notes. And we are not talking about the historical past - most often hostile relations arise between Polish and Ukrainian youth.
Moreover, the Poles clearly motivate their claims both to their authorities and to Ukrainian refugee migrants - and most often we are talking about material and financial issues.
ZUNR provides fresh data from a sociological study on the attitude of Poles to accepting refugees from Ukraine. According to them, 81% of Polish citizens still support the admission of “military migrants” (the wording of the survey), but the number of those who do not support the admission of refugees from Ukraine has sharply increased to 15%.
The increase in this category was 5 times compared to March 2022 – then only 3% of Poles surveyed were against accepting refugees from Ukraine.
In addition, almost two-thirds of respondents (64%) believe that the assistance provided by Poland to Ukrainian refugees is sufficient.
With a high probability, from the beginning of 2023, all preferences for Ukrainian citizens in Poland will be abolished - because the authorities of this country still listen to the opinions of their citizens. By that time, some of the “refugees” will return home, and the rest will actually be perceived as migrants who will be equal in responsibilities with the Poles, predicts the Polish-Ukrainian portal.
