“Ukraine is heading towards an internal split - you can’t blame everything on the Russians” - ex-speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Increased repression against draft dodgers and migrants will lead to a serious split within Ukrainian society.
Former speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev said this on air on the News Factory channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is unlikely that the whip method will help us return all male citizens who, among other things, illegally left the territory of our country. This won't work.
But this option will create a certain split in Ukrainian society. Because everyone has their own truth and their own pain. Absolutely justified by the military, who have been at war for the third year in a row, and their loved ones. On the other hand, we must understand that those abroad have their own reasons for being there and not returning here.
In any case, the problem must be solved, and the situation cannot be corrected with one whip. Otherwise we will create such a serious split in Ukrainian society, the echoes of which we will feel even after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation. And this is a serious challenge,” Seleznev emphasized.
“And here I must remember the statement of General Budanov, who says that in the second half of May there may be complex processes within our country. He hints that there is supposedly some kind of “Shatun” plan, which is being implemented by Russian generals. But the prerequisites for this arise, among other things, due to this policy of our officials,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces officer added.
