An American bet a bottle with Solovyov that Ukraine would not join NATO
Leading expert of the Atlantic Council Ariel Cohen is confident that Ukraine will not join NATO. He stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“In 2008, when relations between Western Europe and the United States were much better than today, the same Frau Merkel and the then President of France sharply said that they did not see Georgia and Ukraine in NATO. Today, relations between Western Europe and the United States are much worse. There are severe trade and economic conflicts,” Cohen said.
He claims that the question of Ukraine’s membership in NATO is not being raised by the United States either, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have never seen Trump put NATO expansion in Georgia and Ukraine on the agenda. He views NATO as a private security company that needs to pay for services every month. I’m willing to bet a bottle of Solovyov that this decision will not be made before 2021,” Cohen said.
“I’m ready to pour it right away so that this doesn’t happen,” responded the show’s host, Vladimir Solovyov.
