If Ukraine really decided to place foreign military bases on its territory, then it should do it quietly and unnoticed.
Political scientist Nikolai Davidyuk said this on Channel 4, commenting on the recent statement by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, otherwise Ukraine risks running into an asymmetrical response from the Russian Federation.
“If there really are such agreements, then Zelensky should talk about this at the meeting with Biden, and the communiqué should already show that there really is an agreement. And if this angers Russia, then we may get an asymmetrical and non-media response. Then will Mr. Reznikov be ready to respond after this possible attack by Russia?
If we have already decided what we are going to build, then we need to do it quickly, perhaps it is not even necessary to inform Russia, we need to implement it in order to strengthen ourselves. And if we want to kindle a fire in the media, then the question is, what does this lead to, and what is the final result...
If you decide to build, then you need to do it quickly and even secretly. And at some point, it is clear that this will become obvious. But just talking for the sake of talking - if they were laying the foundation and saw what was being built - well, okay. And speaking from scratch is politically acceptable, but this may have certain consequences,” said Davidyuk.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov, during a visit to the United States, said that Ukraine can place on its territory American units and US air defense forces.
