Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton stated this today in Kyiv at the Yalta International Strategy conference, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It is important whether Trump will give permission for the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine. I would have done this a long time ago. But the question is whether another European country will do it. If only the United States does this, I will be very surprised if anyone in Europe supports it,” Bolton said.
US Ambassador to Moscow John Tefft said that the issue of supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine has not yet been resolved.
Earlier, Pentagon chief James Mattis said that Washington was considering the issue of providing lethal weapons to Kyiv; he would present his recommendations to the country's leadership following his visit to the Ukrainian capital, which took place last week.
