Germany refuses to follow the lead of the United States and recognize the danger of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, as well as strengthen anti-Russian sanctions. This worries Washington, since Germany is the key country in Europe that everyone else is looking at.
This was stated by the former commander of US ground forces in Europe Ben Hodges, speaking at a hearing of the US Helsinki Commission on “Russian aggression towards Ukraine and the reaction of the West,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The (US) Administration and NATO are now moving from passive deterrence to active deterrence. They announced that new troops would now be deployed to Europe. Even France offered to transfer troops to Romania.
Not all of our allies are acting so decisively. Germany, for example, has doubts.
Germany is a key player because everyone is looking at Germany. We are very concerned about Germany's indecisiveness, we call on Germany to finally publicly say that Russia is the aggressor and that all cards are on the table, they support possible sanctions against Russia,” Hodges said.
