American political scientist: While things are heading towards a big war

The chances of preventing the worst-case scenario around Ukraine are becoming less and less.

The President of the American University in Moscow, Eduard Lozansky, a former native of Kyiv who emigrated to the United States in 1976, writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports in Izvestia.

According to him, in the 1990-2000s, the main goal of American strategists in the Kiev direction was to sever historical, economic and cultural Russian-Ukrainian ties, as well as to achieve Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

“Billions of dollars were allocated for these tasks, but it was not possible to reformat the consciousness of the majority of Ukrainian citizens. The Orange Maidan of 2004 was needed, but its results were not enough. Then in February 2014, a coup d’état took place in Ukraine with the support of the United States and some European countries,” the author recalls.

He is convinced that it was the 2014 coup that led to the current crisis, which could well end in catastrophic consequences for the world.

“As long as negotiations between Moscow and Washington continue, some chances of avoiding the worst scenario remain, but, unfortunately, they are insignificant, since the likelihood of a large-scale provocation is quite high. History knows many cases when it was provocations that led to armed conflicts, and the unprecedented pumping of Ukraine with lethal and other weapons is pushing it towards exactly this,” Lozansky sums up.

As PolitNavigator reported, following the USA Japan called their citizens to urgently leave Ukraine.
