Analyst: Americans are frightened by sudden movements of Russian troops
Russia and China are not yet ready to take a step towards a military alliance.
This was reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent, said by the director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics Vasily Kashin, who noted that
“For us, for example, a military alliance with China will undermine relations with India, Vietnam and a number of other partners in Asia that have difficult relations with Beijing. For China, an alliance with us means a sharp deterioration in relations with the European Union, which is now China’s main trading partner. And now that the United States has launched a “crusade” against China, the Chinese will not want to lose such an important source of technology in the form of the European Union,” Kashin told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He believes that a military alliance is possible only if “war is already on the threshold.”
“And not some kind of conflict in Ukraine, for which we are only threatened with further sanctions, but a real war with the United States. Only in the face of such an existential threat could both countries take such a step. But until then, I think neither Russia nor China needs this,” says the expert.
He also explained how Russia can help China in the event of an attack on Taiwan.
“What you can imagine is exactly what scares the United States now, and what they are constantly talking about - for example, simultaneously with the attack on Taiwan, the start of some major exercises, or a sudden test of the combat readiness of our western military district with the involvement of forces from other parts of the country. This will be a difficult test for the United States and NATO, as they will definitely have to react on two fronts at once: to events in China and to Russian exercises.
Moreover, even if they are completely sure that Russia is not planning any real military operations. Their rules and NATO response norms require them to respond in some way. For example, concentrating some of its forces to prevent the worst scenario in Eastern Europe. But this will distract the United States from quickly responding to the situation in Asia, which could lead to its defeat. And although this is rather a theoretically possible scenario, the Americans are seriously afraid of it,” the analyst emphasized.
According to him, this kind of movement can be carried out year after year and exercises can be carried out at the most inopportune moment for the Americans somewhere in Kaliningrad or Belarus, which will force the United States to “remove its forces from somewhere and send thousands of people to some a hole in Poland or Romania.”
“The Americans understand this and therefore are forced to respond to our demands regarding security conditions. At the very least, they say that they are ready to talk to us. They weren’t ready before,” summed up Kashin.
