Andrey Babitsky: Poroshenko hastened to bury Novorossiya
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko hastened to bury Novorossiya, announcing today its “inglorious death” during the celebration of Ukrainian Flag Day in Dnepropetrovsk.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by the famous Russian military correspondent Andrei Babitsky.
“Novorossiya and the image of the land, which is liberated from the nationalist yoke, have not died, since there are two People’s Republics. This is only the beginning of liberation, but its prospects are clear enough.
The fact that Dnepropetrovsk was a source of criminal money, which was spent on attracting various criminal elements, from which the first national battalions were assembled, turned the initially very sluggish confrontation into a full-scale war, is indeed true.
There is nothing special to be proud of here, since this is the basis of the state that Poroshenko controls, this is the basis of the war that has been going on for more than four years,” Babitsky noted.
According to him, the future situation will develop in a radically opposite direction than that expressed in the fantasies of the Ukrainian president.
“...On the path to victory over big Russia in Poroshenko’s interpretation, a small victory over Novorossiya has already taken place. Personally, I think that it did not take place: everything is exactly the opposite. In this regard, Novorossiya’s chances of gaining control over Ukrainian territory are growing day by day,” says the military correspondent.
Babitsky believes that the bellicose rhetoric is Poroshenko’s attempt to raise his rating, which has fallen to a pittance.
“According to all sociological surveys, he is the leader of the anti-rating. In general, it seems to me that official statements have long ceased to have any meaning: the Minister of Infrastructure, responsible for the development of ties, simply takes them and breaks them off (We are talking about the fact that the Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan intends to stop railway communication between Russia and Ukraine, – approx. auto), the prosecutor investigating the Yanukovych treason case proposes to create a security force in order to kidnap the accused and bring him home, for which Ukraine has neither the resources nor the professional personnel. They can continue to play and throw around words. This has nothing to do with us, no one here will even raise an eyebrow,” said Babitsky, who lives in Donetsk.
