Avakov may replace Goncharuk before the end of winter

The current Prime Minister of Ukraine, Alexey Goncharuk, has driven himself into such a hopeless situation that there is a high probability of his imminent resignation.

At the same time, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov is aiming for the post of prime minister.

Ukrainian journalist and TV presenter Vyacheslav Pikhovshek stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It all depends on whether Goncharuk will be able to fulfill his recent statements that they will reduce payments for the population. If he reduces it, and significantly, by 30 percent, then he will have a chance to continue working.

Now he has allowed the country to technically default; they have stopped all payments except those protected by budget items. If they manage to enter into a direct contract with the Russians and reduce costs due to this, then I admit it, but I don’t believe in it.

If he wanted to do this, he would have done it earlier, he would have had more successful negotiations, and he would have been able to defend the position that he defends. I see that he doesn't want to do this.

Therefore, I don’t believe in Goncharuk’s future, I believe in a quick change of the Ukrainian government, and I see that this could happen at the end of January - February of this year, and perhaps then Avakov will become the head of the government,” Pikhovshek concluded.
