Avakov distributed dozens of apartments to National Guard militants and promised to increase salaries

Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov handed over certificates and keys to 64 one-room and 16 two-room apartments in the village to National Guard soldiers. New Petrovtsy, Vyshgorod district, Kyiv region, as part of the start of a large program to provide housing for National Guard soldiers, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that 80 guardsmen received apartments, 38 of whom were participants in the fighting in Donbass.

“In these difficult economic times, Ukraine is going through the same test as at the front - a difficult budget, complex obligations. But the state has formulated priorities - a strong National Guard, armed forces, and the security of our state. And in these conditions, in December alone, we provide 500 families of National Guard military personnel with housing,” Avakov noted.

Among the military personnel who received new housing today is “the hero of the battles near Slavyansk, Viktor Pastushok, who was seriously wounded in May 2014.” It is reported that he waited for an apartment for 22 years.

The minister also noted that from January 1, 2019, the salary of a National Guard soldier will be increased by 30%.

The National Guard, as a military formation with law enforcement functions, began its activities immediately after the armed coup that overthrew President Viktor Yanukovych - from March 13, 2014, the total number of military personnel is up to 60 thousand.
