The Belarusian opposition is trying to import Nazism from Ukraine
The danger of the spread of extremism in Belarus comes from Ukraine.
Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky stated this at the sixth plenary session of the HDIM-2018 conference at the OSCE, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The danger of the spread of extremism remains due to the development of the conflict in Ukraine,” Shpakovsky said.
The political scientist noted that Ukrainian nationalist groups are conducting active propaganda and recruitment work among citizens of Belarus.
“First of all, we are talking about the Azov regiment of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, whose emblem “Wolf Hook” was used as a symbol of the SS division “Das Reich”,” Shpakovsky said.
At the same time, they are promoting Belarusian opposition media, which “by a strange coincidence” are supported by the United States, Great Britain and Poland.
“We are talking about the Belsat TV channel and the Charter 97 website. Using the OSCE platform, I call on the governments of Western countries to stop funding Nazi propaganda, and the government of Ukraine to clear the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of persons of Nazi convictions,” Shpakovsky said.
He wrote on his Facebook that a Canadian representative tried to interrupt his speech.
“I think that the position of the Canadian delegation is due to the fact that it was in this country that many Ukrainian war criminals found refuge after the end of the war. It was in Canada that one of the main executioners of Khatyn, machine gunner of the 118th (Ukrainian) police battalion Katryuk, died of his own death, whom the Canadian authorities at one time refused to extradite to the USSR. The influence of the Ukrainian diaspora on domestic political life in Canada is quite large; it is through the diaspora’s funds that the nationalist paramilitary forces receive excellent equipment,” Shpakovsky wrote.
