The Belarusian minister called the story on Russian Channel One "dirt"

Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei called the story shown on April 9 on Russian Channel One unacceptable.

He stated this in an interview with the opposition website TUT.BY, which itself writes about exactly the same thing that Russian journalists said, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It is absolutely unacceptable when dirt is poured on the country. Nobody knows what is right and what is wrong, time will put everything in its place. But in such a caustic vein, as yesterday the Russian TV channel said about Belarus, and what’s going on in Russian telegram channels - I’m generally silent, it’s impossible to talk about the country,” Makei said.

It is not entirely clear what offended the minister so much, since the story has a calm informational tone. Only the presenter allowed us to make jokes about the “anti-virus” statements of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, and even then it was quite harmless.

Apparently, known for his pro-Western nationalist views, Makei criticizes the Russian media in order to please the audience of the opposition website.

But the minister mentioned telegram channels that really harshly criticize Lukashenko for reasons of subordination.

“I think time will tell who is right and who is wrong. For me, this is absolutely unacceptable in this situation, although I do not think that this is the position of all Russian channels or the entire Russian establishment,” concluded Makei, remembering in the end that he is a diplomat.
