The Ukrainian government is using IMF assistance ineffectively, so one should not expect anything positive from the new tranche, even if it goes to Ukraine, the head of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine, Andrey Novak, is convinced.

“Despite the fact that over the last 2,5 years we have been receiving IMF tranches, sometimes even double ones, unfortunately, there was no direct connection between the receipt of IMF tranches and the solution of any social and economic problems.
Our expectations from the trenches are exaggerated; so far, the Ukrainian authorities represented by the government and the NBU, to put it mildly, have not been very skillful in using the large-scale external assistance that Ukraine has been receiving for the last 2 years.
There is attention to the receipt or non-receipt of IMF tranches to Ukraine, but, unfortunately, there is no economic result. Tranches arrived, but there was no solution to economic problems thanks to this,” the expert admitted.
