A refugee from Ukraine died in the border neutral zone, having learned while renewing his migration card that he was denied entry into Russia and it was impossible to return to his family.
Larisa Shesler, head of the Union of Political Emigrants and Political Prisoners of Ukraine, spoke about this case in her blog.
“Today I heard another very difficult story. The man was denied entry into Russia, and he found out about this at the border, when leaving to update his migration card. He has no one left in Ukraine - his son and wife are in Russia. He died of a heart attack in no man's land. Buried in Ukraine. How much can you shout about the need for a complete immigration amnesty? PS This is not fake. This is a first-hand story from the son of the deceased,” Shesler clarified.
According to her, the man left Ukraine for political reasons.
“I left in 2015, a supporter of Anti-Maidan, and the age of the non-conscript was 50 years,” Shesler said.
She also recalled that in 2018, more than 200 thousand people were banned from entering Russia for violating the migration regime.
