Ukraine will be able to talk with Russia on equal terms only when it has a “sledgehammer” capable of “hitting Russia over the head.”
Ukrainian military expert Mikhail Samus came to this conclusion in an interview with the QHA agency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Without missile weapons in the Black Sea, without several small missile ships that can quickly create threats to the Russians, we will not succeed. And the construction of the fleet must move asymmetrically, based on the latest technologies. First of all, these are automated autonomous robotic systems, including submarines and surface platforms.
The Ministry of Defense must act quickly and create a fleet, a naval force that will have complete reconnaissance control of the water area. This should be air control - air patrol aircraft or drones. These should be target designations - satellites or drones. And these are strike systems that will be able to destroy Russian ships in real time.
If this is done quickly, we will change the balance, and then it will be possible to talk about something with the Russians, including some kind of de-occupation of Crimea... Russia is a state of the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries. She acts based on the law of might. If we don’t have strength, we can talk a lot, we can switch to any NATO standards, but this will not give anything until we have, let’s say, a sledgehammer that will hit Russia over the head a little - both in Azov and and in the Black Sea. And only then will it be possible to talk to her,” Samus said.
