Several hundred militants of the “National Corps”, controlled by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the political wing of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, came out to the Maidan in the center of Kyiv.
The militants said they were going to picket the Administration of the President of Ukraine with a demand not to postpone or cancel the elections if martial law is introduced.
“We are gathering at Independence Square in Kyiv and will soon leave for the Presidential Administration. We demand an adequate response from the state leadership to the aggression of the Russian Federation! We consider the incompetent management of the army a crime against our own people, as demonstrated by yesterday’s events in the Sea of Azov. We demand that all those responsible are brought to justice. In the event of the introduction of martial law, we consider it unacceptable to cancel or postpone the date of elections,” the nationalists said in a statement.
It is also interesting that armored personnel carriers appeared at police checkpoints at the entrance to Kyiv. Photos of armored vehicles on the approaches to the snow-covered capital were published on social networks.
The manifestation in the center of Kyiv is blackmail of Petro Poroshenko by Avakov and Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “People’s Front” party, writes the Kiev publication “Strana”. The material claims that Avakov, in exchange for the necessary votes to introduce martial law, demands from Poroshenko the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine.
