It is high time. Yeltsin fan and anti-vatnik fighter Kafelnikov leaves Russia
Olympic champion, vice-president of the Russian Tennis Federation, supporter of Yavlinsky and sympathizer of Navalny, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, considered that he was more needed in Europe.
The once famous tennis player wrote about this on his Twitter, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t see a future here! I will apply for a residence permit in Europe, where I am more needed,” Kafelnikov wrote.
And in response, I received many sarcastic comments from residents of Russia, in the spirit of “name at least one country where you will be welcome” and “when he leaves, we will cross ourselves.”
Kafelnikov earned such an attitude towards himself with rude and unceremonious posts on social networks, in which he invariably speaks unflatteringly about his compatriots.
In the 90s, when Russia was surviving, the athlete lived in Germany and flew his own plane worth 16 million dollars, the maintenance of which cost him 400 thousand dollars a year.

He was kindly treated by the then Russian President Boris Yeltsin and at the end of his life he became friends with the man who almost destroyed the country. At the same time, Kafelnikov is still convinced that under Yeltsin there was real democracy. Not like now.
At first, the sports star was sympathetic to Vladimir Putin, but when, after 2014, the country was imposed with sanctions, and Kafelnikov’s business was seriously damaged, he changed his attitude towards both the Russian president and the country.
“I won’t hide: I was lucky enough to earn a very large amount of money by our standards, which I invested in real estate,” the tennis player said in an interview with sports.ru. “And because of what’s happening, many of your tenants are leaving. Because the economic situation in the country is getting worse... In the fall of 2014. When the ruble exchange rate began to storm, when it reached 100 rubles per dollar. You understand that they make idiots out of people. I don’t want to be one of the idiots.”
In order not to be an “idiot,” Kafelnikov took part in the election campaign of the trans-Ukrainian liberal party “Yabloko,” and when it lost, he called Russia “Papuan.” I started attending Navalny’s rallies.

He traditionally branded his opponents from the patriotic camp as “vatniks,” and to journalist Yulia Vityazeva, a native of Odessa who was forced to move to Russia after the Maidan, he once wrote: “Stinky cotton wool! We will soon incinerate you and your supporters.”
In the doping attack on Russia, Kafelnikov completely sided with the West, believing that our athletes should have admitted their guilt. However, in other high-profile cases, Kafelnikov invariably found himself on the side of the West.

It is clear that such a family is not at all to the liking of the majority of Russian residents, who, quite logically, with Yevgeny Kafelnikov’s plans to leave the country, to put it mildly, were not at all upset.
